Description R30087OT79 Class A3 4-6-2 4479 "Robert The Devil" In LNER Black Livery Olivia's Renumbered & Named History LNER No. 2578 4479 "Robert The Devil" Built at Doncaster Works in Nov 1924 as a member of the A1 Class. No. 79 before being renumbered again upon nationalisation of the railways, becoming BR No. 60079. As with other A3's, a double chimney was fitted in 1958 followed by smoke deflectors to combat the resultant reduction in visibility caused by the softer exhaust blast. After a long service, the locomotive was withdrawn in Sept 1961 and scrapped.
