*IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MORE THAN 1 TRIVET, CONTACT ME BEFORE PURCHASING WITH THE ITEM #S AND YOUR MAILING ADDRESS. I can figure the multi-item shipping cost on Pirate Ship and generate a coupon to take the excess postage off your planned purchase.*This project grew from my desire to repurpose my unused or partial skeins of mostly self-striping sock yarns. I also used other finer yarns I had bought for knitting that don’t work well for the type of weaving I like to do now.  The yarn is mostly wool-nylon or wool/cotton/nylon blends. A few trivets have accents of crochet cotton or embroidery floss which are cotton. Because of the nylon content these trivets can’t be used for hot items over 175º as the higher temps will melt the nylon fibers.  They make great decorative trivets, sitting alone on tabletops or under lamps, jar candles, plants and many more items. The yarn was first made into i-cord with a hand-crank and later electric i-cord knitting machine.  It was then handwoven in a continuous strand on a 9 inch DIY pin loom, joining i-cord sections to use up small amounts or to add interesting color effects. Since this is a smaller loom than my others, I can use it for public weaving demonstrations and while riding in the car for longer trips. It fits easily in a backpack for travel too. The trivets off the loom are mostly about 8 inches square and weigh around 60 grams, a little over 2 oz. If you are having trouble making out the colors on this site, I can provide other photos.  I took these photos in sunlight to get the most correct colors. Cher [email protected]
